Where to buy flatbread pizza dough
Bake flatbread until mozzarella is melted and crust is golden around edges, 10 to 15 minutes, rotating sheet halfway through baking. While flatbread bakes, pick 1 cup basil leaves. Grate Parmesan 2 tablespoons. Mince garlic. Process olive oil, pine nuts, 2 tablespoons water, basil, and garlic in food processor until smooth, about 1 minute, scraping down sides of bowl as needed. Transfer to small bowl, stir in Parmesan, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
Transfer flatbread to wire rack and let cool for 5 minutes. While flatbread cools, transfer 1 tablespoon pesto to large bowl. As a final touch, I'll finely dice a small yellow onion and scatter it over the seasoned dough. Not into that combo? Do you!
Into the oven we go! Bake your flatbread for minutes, until the top is deeply colored. Check the bottom of the dough after 10 minutes to make sure it isn't getting too dark. Before you serve it, drizzle a bit of nice olive oil across the flat bread for one last hit of fat. From there, the options are limitless. You could serve the flatbread with hummus , labneh, or onion dip.
You could serve it as the base of a simple salad or a tray of pickles. Have some smoked fish, onions, and creme fraiche? And if you really want to go big, serve it with some shred-y braised meats or grilled skewers. Exceptions: thin cut pepperoni and prosciutto and some thinly sliced vegetables are fine to top raw. Unroll and keep dough on parchment paper while baking.
Cutting the dough: If you need to cut the dough, place it on a cutting board to avoid scratching your baking sheet or countertop. If cutting the dough on the baking sheet, ideally use a pizza cutter. To unroll the dough, remove dough from package and gently separate the dough and parchment paper from the roll, so that the dough on paper begins to lay flat.
Be careful not to separate the dough from the parchment paper. There may be some sticking, but the dough and paper should easily pull away from the roll. Once the dough is lying flat on the baking tray, cut off or tuck any excess paper under, so it does not hang over the edge. All comments are moderated before appearing on the site.
