Where is labs tab in gmail

Mark as Read Button This is a button added at the top of an open email that allows you to mark a message as Read. Preview Pane This lets you view an email without having to click to open it, and then switch back your inbox. Users of old-school email clients like Outlook will appreciate this setting. Right-side chat This moves your chat pane to the right side of Gmail, allowing more room on the left for labels, or even other Labs. Smartlabels Smartlabels are similar to the current Social and Promotions tabs you can see in your Gmail inbox.

They allow you to automatically filter out Bulk emails, Notification emails, and Forum messages. Gmail comes packed with a number of keyboard shortcuts that help you get things done, but this lab allows you to change those keyboard shortcuts to whatever makes the most sense to you.

In there, you can set any of the predefined shortcuts to your preference. That is a great suggestion for a feature to add to our app and we will be sure to consider it. Once enabled, you can create custom canned messages in your compose window.

Type out the message you want to save in your compose window. Then, click the arrow in the bottom right corner of the compose screen.

This can be handy if you have to switch between filters often as part of your workflow. To enable multiple Inboxes, first enable the Lab as described above. Go back into Settings and click Multiple Inboxes. In there, you can set the filters you want to display, as well as the number of conversations in each inbox. Then set the positioning of the extra panels. Not everything in the world of Gmail Labs is rosy and perfect.

There may come a time where a lab just simply breaks and stops email from functioning normally. If that ever happens, Google has a safety net for you. You can go here. Google believes in the stability of Labs so much, it puts this eject button on the same page where you enable them. Go in there and play around. How are they working for you? Sound off in the comments below and let us know. If you're the type of person who likes to process your inbox in one go, the Auto-Advance Lab can help.

Instead of bringing you back to your inbox after you delete, archive, or mute a conversation, you'll instead see the next message in Gmail. No more procrastinating on your messages, ok? Just email the person back. This lightweight extra feature may also be one of the most effective ones.

When you find yourself composing the same email over and over again, create an easily accessible template for it by adding it to your Template library formerly called Canned responses. Here's how to access and use this feature , and here's how it can help you in work and dating.

The templates also support links, which make them handy for storing email signatures. There are a couple more simple options here. The first lets you set up any keyboard shortcuts that you can imagine for Gmail. Simply enable the feature, save, and keyboard shortcuts will show up as a tab in your settings. You can also enable an unread email count on the Gmail favicon. Here's how that looks:. This is a great way to see how many unread emails you have at a glance, particularly if you tend to pin your Gmail tab.

The preview pane or reading pane was a popular Labs feature. This made Gmail work more like Outlook, where you can see a list of your emails in a panel alongside the currently open email. There's now a button for this in the main Gmail interface. You can do a vertical split, as shown above, or a horizontal split. Multiple inboxes used to be a Labs feature, but now you can find it in the Gmail quick settings.

This is a power user feature that lets you take full control over your Gmail inbox. Basically you can use Gmail's advanced search functions to make a number of different inboxes.

I, for example, use this to sort my emails by date. Here's how that looks in the settings:. You can use this to make your inbox work basically any way you can imagine, which makes it a power user's dream. Want to customize your inbox even more?
